Abstract
- The article presents information on the status of navigable waterways in the U.S. as of January 2005. Waterways offer ways to move large volumes of bulk commodities over long distances. Both inland and intracoastal waterways operate as a system and they are operated by the U.S. Corps of Engineers. These waterways serve a number of purposes such as for commercial navigation, hydropower, flood protection and recreation.
