Abstract: In a Pubmed search using the terms incisional hernia limited to clinical trials, 122 hits were found. There were two randomized trials. The best-known is the Luijendijk study with after long-term follow-up a significantly lower recurrence rate after mesh sublay repair when compared to suture repair (⊡ Table 20.1) [1].
