Abstract

The author takes a look into the dilemma in diagnosing pediatric extraesophageal reflux disease (EERD) as it presents as pulmonary manifestations. She cites that it requires a high index of suspicion and suggested by heartburn and water brash which are absent in pediatric patients. She believes that the diagnosis is inadvertent and attributable to several factors which include the lack of specific diagnostic tests for reflux disease. She believes that multidisciplinary clinics are sacrificing their productivity for improved diagnostics of the disease.
