Abstract: A country report for Pakistan as of June 2008 is presented. It offers a political and economic outlook for the 2008-2009 period. It is predicted that political stability will worsen in 2008 as disputes in the governing coalition deepen. The Pakistan Muslim League has withdrawn its ministers from the cabinet after a disagreement with the Pakistan People's Party. The fiscal year 2008/2009 budget, which seeks to reduce the growing fiscal deficit, will raise taxes and easing subsidies on fuel and food.
