Abstract
- The article discusses key issues concerning the deciphering of Cretan scripts dated to the second millennium B.C. It includes background information on writing in Crete and the outlying islands, as well as a description of the unique Cretan writing system that solely consists of phonetic signs and is described as semi-pictographic script "hieroglyphic."
