Abstract
- Magnetoquasistatic models commonly feature nonlinear materials. In high-energy synchrotrons, dipole magnets with aperture fields approaching 2 T are required to keep the ionized beam on a circular track. At these field magnitudes, the ferromagnetic yoke material is heavily saturated, causing a significant deterioration of the aperture field quality. In order to quantify the field quality, 3-D nonlinear finite-element simulations are carried out. The approach is tested for the SIS100 magnet of the FAIR project at the GSI, Darmstadt, Germany.
