Spectrophotometric absorption measurements of colored solutions can be related to CIE Colorinietry. The area of an absorption curve is measured with a tristimulus intergrator and used to define the strength of the dye. The tristiinulus values are reduced to co-ordinates that locate the dye at a specific place on a color diagram.
