Abstract
- The article presents information on the initiatives taken by various fabric mills in the U.S. to control water pollution. American Enka Corp. has made progress in the recovery of production wastes. The work was done not only for economic purposes, but also for the enhancement of stream quality. In 1949-1950, construction was completed on three settling basins built at a cost of $134,000. These basins are arranged in series designed for a 26-hour detention of process wastes. Next in the line is Burlington Industries Inc. Burlington's complex includes 36 company owned and operated treatment facilities.
