Abstract

The article presents the proposed sampling plan for flammability testing of children's sleepwear announced by the U.S. Department of Commerce. The amendment announced by U.S. Secretary of Commerce Peter G. Peterson would become effective from July 29, 1972. The plan however, has provisioned for alternative tests that can provide an equal or greater level of protection if approved by Commerce Department. The plan proposed changes in the definition of several terms including "Fabric Piece" (Piece), "Fabric Production Unit" (Unit), and "Garment Production Unit" besides making changes in the acceptance the specimens and sampling. The plan also made provisions for prototype testing and production testing.
