Abstract

The article focuses on the bimodal principle of membrane construction. The researchers' assumed the universality of the bimodal principle of membrane construction. A protein was said to be at a water-lipid interphase with one phase on the aqueous phase, and the other in the hydrocarbon sector. According to the studies of Vanderkooi and Green, only proteins with bimodal nature could be stable within the membrane continuum. Also discussed is the packing of bimodal proteins and lipids, tier structure of membrane system, and the difference between intrinsic, and extrinsic proteins.
