Abstract
- The article reports on the use of armadillos in the study of leprosy. Eleanor E. Storrs from the Gulf South Research Institute and W. F. Kirchheimer from the U. S. Public Health Service Hospital in Carville, Louisiana reported the transmission of lepromatous leprosy to armadillos which will be used to study the disease. Kirchheimer describes the difficulties in transmitting the disease to animals to examine factors contributing to its development in selected humans. Storrs is also featured and describes the breeding of armadillos for use in laboratory research. An overview of the report is provided.
