Abstract
- The article reports on James Clerk Maxwell and his color theory during his journey in Italy which led to the invention of color photograph. Maxwell formed his color theory through studying the works of Boyle, Newton, and Berkley. He started developing the theory through considering that the science of colors is a science of the mind. He associated it to optics and physiology. He demonstrated that color sensation can be produced by mixing different regions of the light spectrum. Maxwell also believed that his color theory is linked with mental processes.
