Abstract
- The article describes the effects of hippopotamus grazing on vegetation zones in the Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda. The three vegetation zones studied were mosaic grassland, sporobolus pyramidalis grassland and Themeda triandra grassland. According to the author, the hippopotamus population of the area probably increased greatly after the removal of the human population and with the formation of the National Park. The author adds that the mosaic grassland appears to be the preferred habitat of hippopotamuses.
