Abstract

The article discusses the methods used for vegetation, which were recorded along transects in the south of England and Wales. It is cited that between 1954 and 1957, the return of many rabbits in Great Britain has reversed the changes in vegetation, in which the palatable grasses and the woody plants continued to increase. The first records were made before or during the periods when the rabbits were almost exterminated by myxomatosis. Results show that the turf grew taller but the species did not alter in numbers, while the small flowering plants decreased in number. It is also discussed that the point-quadrats in grassland research trace the changes in the vegetation and record the leaves and stems of plants, which are influenced by the weather.
