Abstract

The article focuses on the Committee Report released by the British Ecological Society regarding the relevance and implication of the paper "The classification of tropical woody vegetation types," by J. Burtt Davy. According to the authors, Davy's essay commendable work should be recognized, however, his work does not present appropriate knowledge regarding the concept and classification of tropical woody communities which only uses a mixed criteria and is not based on habitat. It also offers information on the proper approach on the classification of woody vegetation communities as well as the basic formation type and units of study.
