Abstract

The article presents a report on new currency in Sudan. Sudan is replacing its dinar currency with Sundanese pound which will cost the country one hundred fifty million dollars. The pound was introduced on January 10, 2007 and the use of the dinar was stopped on June 30, 2007. The replacement of the dinar came after peace settlements between north and south Sudan. The dinar was replaced due to its perceived relation to the Islamist government of Khartoum. One Sundanese pound is equivalent to one hundred dinar and comes in six denominations.
