Abstract
- This section presents a letter from Paddy Whannel, education officer of the British Film Institute (BFI) Education Department, to Jim Cook, chairman of the Society for Education in Film and Television (SEFT), about the position of the BFI towards film education. Whannel deals with two issues on film education: services to the practicing teacher and the role of intellectual work in film study. Whannel also addresses the agreement worked out between the SEFT and the department about their respective functions.
