Abstract: This publication offers information on the economic and political conditions in New Zealand. The National Party is reportedly ahead of the Labor Party in opinion polls. Large fiscal surpluses will allow personal tax cuts when the budget for 2008-2009 is announced. The governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, Alan Bollard pointed to inflationary risks, saying that it is not likely for interest rates to be cut. Gross domestic product (GDP) growth from 2006-2008, as well as prediction for 2008, is given.
