Abstract
- The article focuses on the life and works of John Emerich Edward Acton. Acton was an anti-Roman Catholic, finding himself in opposition to the centralizing trend in Church government during his lifetime, and to the men who were directing it, in Rome and in England. Furthermore, Acton received a superb education, though he was never enrolled at any university.
