Reply to the discussion by O. Bedair on “Web bearing resistance of W-shape beams framing over columns”.

The article offers the author's reply concerning the discussion on his article "Web bearing resistance of W-shape beams framing columns." It is pointed out that the study was an investigation of the effect of column cap plates on Web bearing resistance of W-shape beams framing in conjunction with a critical evaluation of the design equations suggested by the current Canadian steel design standard. The author expresses his gratitude towards the observations provided by the discusser for it adds forum for the further clarification of the methodology used to achieve the objectives of the study.
