Abstract
- This article reports that Royal Mail is almost tripling its fleet of double-deck semi-trailers to boost productivity on its trucking operations. Network director Paul Tolhurst points out that the replacement of conventional straight-frame van trailers with drop-frame double-deckers enables the number of vehicles required to carry the same number of letters or packages to be cut by a third. Total fleet emissions and the associated carbon footprint are correspondingly reduced. Cartwright Group will supply Royal Mail with the double-deckers.
