Abstract

The article reports on the study of the response of adolescents with major depressive disorder on continuation and maintenance treatments. It aims to examine the rates of achieving and maintaining sustained response during continuation and maintenance treatments of adolescents with depression. It evaluates the fluoxetine (FLX), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and FLX/CBT combination (COMB) of 439 adolescents with major depressive disorder in thirteen US psychiatric clinics. It also covers the three stages of depression treatment namely acute, continuation and maintenance treatment.
