Abstract

The article discusses a study on the effectiveness of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) in patients with advanced prostate cancer. Such a therapy has been used prior to the development of metastatic disease due to its earlier recognition of recurrence as well as its moderate toxicity. Characteristics of patients classified by whether or not metastases were present at ADT initiation are mentioned. The research found a link between the use of ADT as a part of local therapy and a decreased time to progression (TTP).
