Hidden treasures: Florence's botanical collection.

The article discusses about the botany section of the Museum of Natural History, considered as the first centralized museum of plants in Italy. According to the article, governors of fractious independent states on the Italian peninsula who are proponents of a united Italy known as the Risorgimento are aware of intellectual gatherings. In 1841, Leopold II, Grand Duke of Tuscany allowed a congress of Italian scientists to be held in Florence. A special room was provided for such function which shall host the congress and the chosen venue was the Tribune of Galileo in the Imperial Royal Museum of Physics and Natural History, which doubled as a shrine to Galileo, the adopted symbol of the risorgimentists for a united Italy.
