Abstract
- The article presents the results of a study conducted by BCC Research which showed that compostable bags will have the largest share of the biodegradable packaging market by 2012. Based on the study, the market for biodegradable polymers will increase from 541 million pounds in 2007 to 1.2 billion pounds by 2012. It notes the problems being faced by the biodegradable polymer market, including high prices and lack of a municipal/industrial composting infrastructure.
