Abstract
- The paper investigates the Russian language spoken in Israel. The research on the integration of lexemes that switched from Hebrew into Russian, which is the matrix language, provides us with innovative material. The chief purpose of this research is to reveal the development trends of several morphological, phonomorphological and syntactic structures typical of modern Russian. In considering the morphological paradigm of switched nouns the problems of stress shift are discussed. The impossibility of the movable stress pattern in most switches demonstrates the difference between the integrated and non-integrated loan words. The switching of composita typical of Hebrew ( status constructus) became possible by the development of analytical adjectives typical of modern Russian and described by M. V. Panov, who considered them as a new part of speech. In noun phrases with switched adjectives the latter one follows the noun if there is no morphological agreement; thus the word order of Hebrew is preserved. The use of Hebrew nouns preceded by Russian cardinal numbers demonstrates the switching of a whole pattern, which corresponds to the Matrix Language Model. In a few examples of the switching of a verb several patterns of ad-nominal word formation can be observed. Finally, the question of semantic shifts in borrowing and switching is discussed. A comparison of our material with the cases of recent borrowing from several languages into Russian is also provided. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
