Abstract

Chapter 26 of the book "My Friend Smith: A Story of School and City Life" is presented. It explores the life of Frederick Batchelor, junior clerk at Merret Barnacle & Co. and his friend Jack Smith who is also a junior clerk in the company in London, England. It highlights the holiday picnic which Batchelor expects it to be delightful but has certainly not come off as he expected. It focuses on the vehicle accident during the picnic, with Batchelor's arm broken.
