Abstract
- Chapter 19 of the book "My Friend Smith: A Story of School and City Life" is presented. It explores the life of Frederick Batchelor, junior clerk at Merret Barnacle & Co. and his friend Jack Smith who is also a junior clerk in the company in London, England. It highlights the arrival of Hawkesbury, nephew of one of the partners of the company, who happens to be Batcher and Smith's former schoolfellow at Stonebridge House.
