- The article presents a timeline of William Ewart Gladstone's political career in Great Britain. On May 21, 1832, he presented a petition against immediate abolition of slavery. On June 8, 1836, he became a member of select committee on disposal of land in the colonies. On August 7, 1857, he protested against unequal treatment of men and women in Divorce bill.
