Abstract: The article presents a re-evaluation of mitochondrial DNA haplogroup diversity in Basques. It also deals with data related to the hypervariable segment HVII of the D-loop region. Direct sequencing is used to test the genomic DNA of 55 healthy men living in the Goiherri region and the Arratia Valley. Significant finding from the investigation of haplogroup compositions are presented.
