Abstract
- The article explores the development of a strategic rivalry between India and China concerning each country's interests and influence in military-controlled Burma. Among the factors contributing to Burma's status as an area of interest to India and China are its geographical location, its abundant natural energy resources, and its potential for economic development. The author traces the construction of infrastructures connecting both countries with Burma in the form of the Chinese and Indian corridors and analyzes how xenophobic nationalism in Burma has proven an obstacle to China's and India's efforts to build influence there.
