Abstract

An essay is presented describing the political unrest in post-independence Burma and its resolution. Details are provided regarding political factions such as the Anti-Fascist People's Freedom League (AFPFL), the Red Socialists, and the Social Democrats. The rise of socialism through parties such as the Revolutionary Council (RC) and the Burma Socialist Programme Party (BSPP) is explained. The author argues that factional unity was achieved through hegemonic leaders and centralized government.
