The article considers the potential of the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region for renewable energy. Many financial institutions are launching funds that either solely make ecology-related investments or cite sustainable criteria as being the basis for, or at least included in, their investment portfolios. There is a huge demand for energy in the region's emerging markets and a sentiment on climate change that is only getting stronger. The efforts of CEE nations in cleaning up their energy sources might as well count for nothing so long as Russia remains indifferent from renewable energy.
