Abstract

This article discusses the operations of petroleum companies in the U.S. in 2007. According to Business Monitor International Ltd. (BMI), British Petroleum has become the biggest oil producer in the country, due to key assets in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico. BMI indicates that ExxonMobil is a significant player in the upstream segment, accounting for some 5.6 percent of supply. BMI also states that Chevron ranks as the largest producer of oil and gas on the Gulf of Mexico shelf and in California.
