Abstract

The article offers information on issues concerning the use of biomass fuels to address the problems of global warming. It is argued that burning wood and paper as a source of alternative fuels should not be considered as recycling. Legislators and environmentalists are debating on how to properly reduce reliance on fossil fuels. Abitibi-Consolidated manager Debbie Johnston discussed the risk of imbalance use of biomass fuels as a solution to climate change. Recycling papers and recycled-paper manufacturers in the United States expressed their concern on the implications of recovered papers diversion from manufacturing into biomass and energy production.
