Abstract

The article reports that the House representatives have agreed to propose the House Bill 1839 which creates the Returnable Beverage Container Act and is similar to the Senate bill 1035 which would enforce a beverage container recovery system in the Keystone State. It notes that the bill imposes a five-cent-per-container fee upon the purchase of beer, carbonated soft drinks and other malt beverages, sports drinks, soda, mineral and other drinks. Relative to this, it also reveals that the revenue gathered from the assessment will be deposited in the Returnable Beverage Container Fund which will be utilized to reimburse valid returnable deposit claims of distributors and redemption centers.
