Abstract

This article reveals the plan of Goldcorp to expand its Peñasquito project in Mexico by increasing its mill capacity to accelerate the project production schedule. The target increase in mill capacity is 30 percent or 130 kiloton/day (kt/d), while the expansion project is allocated with a $1 billion budget. $1.49 billion is the new capital cost estimate for project completion, including about $450 million spent to date. The projected average annual life-of-mine production are 12.4 tons of gold, 964 tons of silver, 97 kilotons of lead, and 189 kilotons of zinc. There are ongoing studies on metallurgy and metals recovery.
