Abstract
- The article presents an analysis of the risk assessment and sentencing released in the special issue of the Canadian Journal of Criminology and Criminal Justice. According to the author, offenders can be differentiated in terms of their risk to re-offend basing on the corrections developed by Burgess in 1928 regarding the issue of giving parole. It is the author's view that the common issue raised on the three papers featured in the special issue is whether or not risk instruments play a significant role in pre-sentencing decisions.
