Abstract
- The article focuses on the rise in outdoor advertising and the commercialization of public space in the U.S. The author discusses the fast proliferation of billboards and other forms of outdoor advertising that has transformed the city streetscape[øâ6]. She examines the debate over this controversy and provides historical background to clarify the argument. She also investigates the efforts of outdoor advertisers to legitimize their businesses.
