CHAPTER 8: THE HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL LEGACY OF RELATIONS BETWEEN SOUTHEAST ASIA AND EAST ASIA, WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE TO MALAYSIA.

Chapter 8 of the book "Continent, Coast, Ocean: Dynamics of Regionalism in Eastern Asia" is presented. It reveals that in dealing with East Asia's foreign relations in the distant past, the focus has to be on China. It also notes that interest in the history of the relations between Southeast Asia and East Asia is clearly prompted by the desire to effectuate closer economic ties between the two regions.
