Abstract: Bromination of (R)-2,2'-(diphenylphospnino)-1,1'-binaphthyl (BINAP) in [Hmim]PF6 ionic liquid was performed with N-halosuccinimides at 110°C during 12 h, affording the 4,4'-dibromoBINAP in high yield.
