Abstract: The article reports on the rising violence and incidence of Islamic terrorism in Somalia. Focus is given to steps the United States has taken to subdue the worry in the region, including the creation of a military base opened in Djibouti in 2002, as well as air strikes which are being used to eradicate the al-Qaeda leadership hiding within Africa.
