Pharmacological Management of Atrial Fibrillation: An Update.

The article examines the pharmacological management of atrial fibrillation. Therapy of artrial fibrillation is aimed at achieving several goals, including improvement of symptoms, reduction of atrial fibrillation-associated morbidity, and improvement of prognosis. Evidences from retrospective data analyses indicate that artrial fibrillation was shown to be associated with an increased mortality risk in patients with severe symptomatic heart failure awaiting cardiac transplantation.
