Effects of Metformin on Collagen Glycation and Diastolic Dysfunction in Diabetic Myocardium.

The article presents a study which examined the effects of metformin on collagen glycation and diastolic dysfunction in diabetic myocardium. The methods conducted include the process of comparing untreated and metformin-treated diabetes in the basal state and during volume infusion. It is concluded that untreated diabetics exhibited increased diastolic chamber stiffness and that the chronic metformin used prevented the abnormalities of function and composition.
