Abstract
- This article describes the process of 60 Motivational Interviewing (MI) or Adapted Motivational Interviewing (AMI) interventions reported in the literature between 1986 and 2002. Examination of the articles revealed a gap in our understanding of whether or not MI/AMI is effective and the process by which it is effective. An intervention- process research framework is suggested for future research in order to reduce this gap in our knowledge of psychotherapeutic and addiction treatment techniques.
