Abstract
- The article presents a study which compares three methods of interpolation in a case of a complex geomorphologic territory. These methods include a local interpolation method, universal kriging, and multilayer neural networks trained with backpropagation. The study also identifies 12 climatic variables and nine bioclimatic indexes. It is determined the Great Britain with external drift to be the optimal method, which leads to a plausible distribution of climatic variables, specifically temperature and precipitation as well as most of the analyzed bioclimatic indexes. The researchers reveal that the study of interpolation methods will be useful for concerns on ecological monitoring and environmental assessment of the territory.
