Abstract

The article investigates the susceptibility of greenhouse whitefly to neonicotinoids, such as imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, dinotefuran and acetamiprid as well as to conventional insecticides like endosulfan, chlorpyrifos, malathion, methomyl, bifenthrin and fenpropathrin, applied on strawberries in southern California. Findings show that neonicotinoids such as imidacloprid, thiamethoxam and acetamiprid are not effective in controlling whiteflies. It was also found out that adult greenhouse whiteflies are very susceptible to conventional insecticides like endosulfan and malathion.
