Abstract

The authors contend that Canada must reconsider its human security agenda in light of the global war against terrorism. They question the use of force against other states by the U.S. and its allies in the guise of protecting human security. They state that Canada can strengthen its persuasive power by upholding the normative framework of international law and maintaining its reputation for committed multilateralism. They hold that Canada must maintain close political, cultural and economic ties with the U.S.
