Abstract
- The article examines whether official decisions to include homosexual members in the military led to changes in organizational performance in Canada. Restrictions on gay and lesbian soldiers were abolished in 1992. The historical evolution of homosexual personnel policy is discussed. Mounting pressure continued despite minor Department of National Defence policy modifications. Military officials stated that lifting the gay ban had a minimal impact on the Canadian Forces' operational effectiveness.
