Abstract
- Focuses on The Digital Atheneum, a project at the University of Kentucky at Lexington in which high-tech methods are used for preserving and restoring manuscripts from the 10th and 11th centuries. Development of techniques for digitizing damaged manuscripts and restoring markings and content no longer visible; Damage suffered to many manuscripts due to a fire at the Cotton Library in Great Britain in the early 18th century; Methods to restore illegible text and reassemble the pieces of badly damaged manuscripts.
